  • Most of the time the dog owners are sent to me by a vet. If an owner comes to me directly, I want the vet to be informed. In case of necessary veterinary assesment, I will contact the treating veterinarian with the consent of the owner.
  • The health insurance companies usually cover the cost of animal physiotherapy treatments.

manual therapy

Using passive movements influencing the factors that inhibit optimal movement function. This is the type of therapy I use the most.

soft tissue techniques

massage

All kinds of therapeutic massages to bring the tissues to optimal condition.

trigger point therapy

Dry needling or manual techniques release the trigger point with its pain.

lymphatic drainage

Using manual lymphdrainage techniques helping to eliminate the swelling in the tissues (incl. bandage).

Training and muscle building

The focus in rehabilitation is on active muscle building. In order for your animal to be able to move optimally again, its muscles must actively support the musculoskeletal system.

Everyday movements (dog walks, etc.) are also used beside specific training as the treadmill and exercises with the physiotherapist.

In short, muscle building is supported by 3 factors:

  • Building-up cardio-fitness (e.g. using a treadmill)
  • Specific exercises to increase strength and improve coordination
  • Management of impact

Rehabilitation

Postoperative rehabilitation

After each operation, any deficits in the musculoskeletal system (muscles, joints, etc.) must be corrected/retrained, so full functionality can be reached. During rehabilitation, we can support the physiotherapy with adjusted active therapy.

Geriatric rehabilitation

We enable older patients to build up strength and endurance in a controlled manner after serious operations and / or illnesses. In this way we promote the animal’s independence. All still available tricks to compensate will be optimized.

Neurological rehabilitation

Is a special exercise therapy for injuries or diseases of the brain and / or the spinal cord.

Inpatient stay

It is our aim that you can take your animal home with you as soon as possible after an operation and / or illness. In certain cases, however, intensive therapy under expert supervision in the clinic is essential.

sportrehabilitation

As formely top-agility-sportsman I know which performance a dog has to do in sport. Also I can help to do a training for young dogs or for dogs after an injury, so the dog can do top-performance again.

As expert for movement the animal physio can help You to explain the limits for the dog after an operation or injury. Also increasing the load to normal can be instructed by the physio.

With the surgeon and other disciplines I always cooperate very close, so the rehabilitation can be optimized as good as possible.

home exercises

Very important for the succes in the animal-physiotherapy. The patient may come twice a month for treatment. That is not enough for exercising. If the owner does not do the homeexercises or doing them not correct could slow down the healing proces.
